iCON Women and Young Peoples Leadership Academy (iCON) is a unique Ugandan entrepreneurship and leadership development initiative. It is a social enterprise and civil society actor that aims to cause social transformation by addressing the leadership challenges faced by Uganda and Africa. iCON primarily works with women, young people and children. iCON recognizes the relatively untapped formidable entrepreneurial leadership potential of this target group that can be unleashed and ignited to cause fundamental social changes in all sectors. Read more
The main goal of iCON is to pilot a new approach to building a multigenerational leadership cadre of children, women and young people who have the passion and commitment to rid society of the core causes of under development, conflict, gender inequalities and gender inequity.
iCON envisions "A totally transformed, progressive and violence free Uganda and Africa."
iCON's mission is "Fully ignite the potential for visionary entrepreneurial and transformational leadership in Uganda's and Africa's women and young people."

Advocacy and Inter-generational Mentoring Networks

The Annual iCON Entrepreneurial and Transformation Leadership Award Forum

Started in 2011, iCON hosts an annual award scheme for outstanding leadership exhibited in all areas of life. The aim of this scheme is to celebrate outstanding leadership qualities of women, men, young people and children that contribute to inspiring individual nominators and building Ugandan society in general. Read more

Award Categories

The iCON Entrepreneurial and Transformational Leadership Awards have two main categories:

  • Exemplary Leadership Award in recognition of contribution of nominees to the leadership character and growth of the nominators -the public- through demonstrated outstanding leadership, attitude and behaviour.
  • Lifetime Entrepreneurial and Leadership Achievement Award to mainly senior citizens selected by iCON for a lifetime of dedicated service and contributions to mentoring and breaking new ground in various fields of endeavour. this award recognises examplary and pioneering leadership that has positively impacted the world.
